The Google Pixel Buds Pro have managed to slip into the hands of someone early

The Google Pixel Buds Pro aren’t scheduled to begin arriving until July 28, but one fortunate customer who pre-ordered the wireless headphones this week has already received his new device through the mail, giving the rest of us an early peek at what’s on offer.

Linkakox, a Reddit user, wrote a thread (via 9to5Google) discussing their initial thoughts on the earbuds, including the sound quality and what is included in the box. There are a ton of images to go through as well.

The good news is that the sound quality when listening to music is better than the less expensive Google Pixel Buds A-Series, at least according to Linkakox. Active Noise Cancellation also reportedly performs “quite effectively”.

Bring your own cable

This preliminary and unconfirmed review claims that the new Transparency Mode on the Pixel Buds Pro, which lets in ambient sound and is handy when conversing with someone or crossing a street, for example, also functions as promised by Google.

You will need to arrange for your own charging method since you don’t receive any in the package, not even a USB cable. Additionally, it appears like the Pixel Buds app needs to be updated in order to support all of the Pro earphones’ functions.

Analysis: True rivals for the AirPods Pro?

Naturally, Apple has had tremendous success with its AirPods and AirPods Pro headphones, and now the majority of other manufacturers have joined the bandwagon to compete for a piece of the market. One of them is Samsung, whose Galaxy Buds 2 Pro launch is anticipated for the following month.

The more cheap A-Series models that we’ve already highlighted were released after Google’s original Pixel Buds in 2020. Google will once again be attempting to seriously challenge Apple’s AirPods line with the new headphones.

The AirPods can perform a number of things on the iPhone that Google can do on Android, such as super-fast pairing and a specialized app. Additionally, the earbuds come with multipoint technology, allowing them to connect to many devices at once.

While this early look at the Google Pixel Buds Pro is undoubtedly intriguing, we’ll need to use these wireless earbuds for a significant amount of time to determine whether they’re worth the price that Google is asking for them and whether or not they may persuade users away from AirPods.
