PS Plus Essential is giving away one of the best JRPGs of recent memory

PS Plus Essential’s next batch of monthly games has been revealed, and there’s one title in particular that’ll interest subscribers.

In August, PS Plus subscribers will be able to download Yakuza: Like a Dragon. According to Dealabs user billbil-kun, who successfully and consistently leaks the subscription platform’s free games each month, this is the case.

The 2020 release is undoubtedly a notable entry in the series and one of the best JRPGs of recent memory. It has all the characteristics of a fantastic RPG even if Yakuza’s traditional beat ’em up gameplay has been replaced with a turn-based system. A vast environment to explore, outstanding narrative, and interesting sidequests are all to be expected.

If you’re completely unfamiliar with Yakuza, Like a Dragon is also a great way to start the series. You don’t need to be familiar with the 15-year-old series to jump in since it is set in a different city from its predecessors and features a fresh cast of people. That will save you the time it would take to figure out how to play the Yakuza games and figure out where to start.

Like a skater

In 2020, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, a remake of the original two games in the skating franchise, will be released. We praised it as a “fully crafted remake” in our review, noting that it “delivers in all the areas that fans of the original would expect, and sweetens the deal by adding all the current essentials we demand of today’s video games.”

The last free game for August is the 2017 horror platformer Little Nightmares. It puts you in the tiny shoes of a little character to solve a series of absurd puzzles and escape from twisted nightmares.

From August 2 through September 6, PS Plus members can claim all three titles as their own. As always, you can keep playing them if you download them in time for the end of your PS Plus subscription. They are accessible to PS Plus Extra and Premium customers as well, but they won’t be included in the more expensive, on-demand download collection.

Do not worry if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription. The majority of the Yakuza series’ titles, including Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami, are already available on Microsoft’s platform, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
