Epblogs verdict

A 32-inch 4K display, the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD provides an excellent gaming experience. You don’t have to worry about missing anything with a 144Hz refresh rate. The vibrant colors on the screen are less than appealing to us, but if you enjoy them, they can be a benefit.

Quick Summary

MSI created the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD monitor especially for esports. The monitor, despite being 32 inches, nonetheless readily fits into the typical gaming setup. Your arrangement also acquires extra atmosphere with RGB lighting on the back (provided you have it against a wall or furniture, of course).

The Optix MPG321UR-QD sports a 4K image resolution and a 144Hz image refresh rate (3840×2160). Those who frequently switch between games should give this monitor serious consideration.

The Quantum Dot technology has made the screen incredibly sharp and clear. The colors on our screen are pretty strong and occasionally even a little too bright, so we do believe that this one does its job a little too well. Perhaps your preferences or habits play a major role in this, but we found this to be “overkill” when playing games like Powerwash Simulator, League of Legends, and watching YouTube.

The monitor has a thicker bezel on the bottom, but the bezels on the side and top are incredibly thin. This looks nice while gaming and working.

The foot has been given a tougher aspect, while the monitor looks sleek and contemporary. It seems smooth and sturdy since it has stripes and runs slightly up from front to back. Anyone with a respectable battle station will surely be seduced by the MSI Optix MPG321UR-look. QD’s

MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD Price and availability

Since October 9, 2021, the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD has been offered in the Netherlands. You must pay 1,199 euros for the item. Although this is a respectable sum for a monitor, it is the best available. Additionally, an Xbox-specific version exists.

The Optix series includes a number of monitors, each with a different pricing. The second most expensive model is the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD. If you want a monitor from the Optix series but think the price of this one is too high, you can choose from a variety of pricing points.

MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD Specs & Features

  • 32in, 1440p and IPS are good for mainstream games
  • Loads of connectivity options including KVM
  • It’s not fast enough for top-tier eSports gamers
  • Next-gen console fans may want an HDMI 2.1 display

MSI’s daring design is supported with a strong specification. The 32-inch panel employs IPS technology, has a 10-bit color depth, and a 1ms response time. It has a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Games still look fantastic despite the low pixel density of 92ppi, which enables a larger range of GPUs to operate this panel.

While the LG and MSI have the same fundamental characteristics, the MSI lags behind in terms of refresh rate. The MSI runs at 165Hz by default and can be overclocked to 175Hz. It is compatible with AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync. Both of those numbers are plenty for mainstream esports, and that 165Hz refresh rate is excellent for any single-player game.

The LG ran at 165Hz by default with a 180Hz overclock, though, so it’s a bit quicker. It’s a tiny difference, but that extra speed could be a dealbreaker if you want to gain every possible advantage in games.

Also bear in mind that you’ll get better specialist performance if you go in different directions: single-player games will look sharper on 4K panels despite lower refresh rates, while keen eSports gamers should find a 240Hz or 360Hz screen, even if that may mean sacrificing resolution.

MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD Design

The MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD is rumored to have a gamer-style appearance. RGB? Yes. Strong foot? Yes. Check for a sleek, contemporary style on the rear.

Given the esports branding and pricing, the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD won’t fit in every interior, but that is to be expected. Thanks to the VESA connector, those who have a suitable setup or battle station can undoubtedly mount this monitor on their desk or monitor arm (check whether it can support the weight and size of the Optix MPG321UR-QD).

You can enjoy a comfortable viewing experience whether working or playing because the top and side margins of the screen are quite narrow. The display is well accented by the somewhat thicker bottom edge.

At the back there is a poker with which you can adjust various settings. This requires some practice, because behind the stick are a lot of options, configurations and settings. The back has an angular style, with RGB lighting. This is quite subtle when you connect the monitor, but you can adjust it via the poker on the back.

The base, also known as the monitor stand, appears to be extremely sturdy. It ascends from front to back. The screen’s clean, thin design is nicely offset by the solid appearance. The stand further supports the fact that we are discussing a gaming display rather than a standard monitor because of the stripes.

The MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD features two HDMI ports (2.1), a DisplayPort (1.4), six USB ports (four on the bottom, two on the side) and a USB-C port. There are also two 3.5mm connections on the side, one of which is female.

MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD Performance

The 32-inch IPS panel of the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD produces an image that is crisp and clear. Although it’s a good monitor, it doesn’t obstruct playing a game or viewing a Twitch feed. Additionally, there is sufficient screen real estate for home office use. The display features a 3840×2160 resolution (4K).

You immediately notice that this monitor has been designed with gamers in mind. It is also noticeable that your own response time increases: thanks to the 1ms response time, you can get to something faster here and there than you could with any other monitor.

The 144Hz shows its muscles during fast action and intensive battles. We can imagine that fans of FPS games, MOBAs and more will find their match in the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD.

Still, we have to say something: the Quantum Dot technology seems to do its job a little too well. In games like Powerwash Simulator, League of Legends and watching YouTube videos, we notice that the colors are strikingly bright: so bright that it almost seems exaggerated. In a colorful game like Powerwash Simulator, it’s so intense that it reminds us of a rainbow lollipop.

When adjusting the contrast, we actually notice that this cannot be nuanced: it is even opting for a lot of color with a slider, or visible loss of colors in general. That’s a shame, since not every game needs an intense color palette per se. We would therefore call this ”overkill” in typical gamer language.

This can also be a matter of personal preference. If you like lively games with intense colors, this might be a plus. If you use this monitor for gaming as well as watching content and working from home, some balance might be nice.

MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD Review Verdict

The MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD is not the cheapest or the most accurate gaming monitor available; if you need a display that can also handle creative tasks, go elsewhere.

Instead, the MSI focuses on creating a dynamic, dramatic gaming experience, and it succeeds owing to vibrant colors and strong contrast. Additionally, it has great connection, RGB LEDs, surprising and astounding features, and a refresh rate that can handle popular games.

The MSI Optix MPG321QRF-QD is a decent option if you want a gaming display that can give a ton of features and vibrant color, but search elsewhere if you prefer a more sensitive experience.
