Gmail is getting a machine learning boost for smarter searches

Machine learning will soon make it simpler to discover what you need. Previously, search results depended on things like chips, filters, and operators to help you find that elusive email. The company’s new ML models should be able to offer more contextual suggestions with “intent matching,” along with tailored results based on prior behavior, according to a post on the Google Workspace Updates blog.

Although general availability has started, it can take a few weeks until all users have access to the upgraded search tools. The new tool will be accessible to all Workspace (and old G Suite Basic and Corporate) and personal users, contrary to Google’s usual practice of adding more functionality for business clients than for personal users.

We don’t sure if the ML searching capabilities will be restricted to browser experiences, as they have been in prior versions, or if they will also be instantly available in mobile applications.
