THE SOURCE FOR TECH BUYING ADVICE
Less than two weeks remain before the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is officially announced on August 10; however, as is sometimes the case with high-profile phone launches, the device has already been more-or-less completely leaked. In reality, two significant leaks—one exposing the likely design and the other the projected price—have now come to light more or less simultaneously.
We’ll start by examining the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4’s potential appearance, thanks to renders released by reliable leaker Evan Blass through 91Mobiles.

These appear to be official press renders, and they show the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in three shades – black, beige, and a sort of grey green.
You can see that it has a triple-lens camera and, unsurprisingly given what leaks had previously stated, a design that is essentially identical to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. In reality, this design has already appeared in leaked images, so it is probably accurate.
The leak also contains several renderings of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 that, like those of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, are consistent with earlier leaks. There is a dual-lens camera visible here in a black strip on the back, with the remaining area available in graphite, gold, blue, or purple.
We’ll move on to prices next. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will cost 1,998,700 won for 256GB of storage and 2,097,700 won for 512GB, according to the South Korean website Naver. Since those costs are exactly the same as what the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 debuted for, we won’t even bother with conversions because they imply that prices in other places may also be the same.
That would mean a starting price of $1,799 / £1,599 / AU$2,499, rising to $1,899 / £1,699 / AU$2,649 for 512GB of storage. Notably that’s slightly at odds with another recent leak, which suggested prices would increase a little bit, so we’d take this with a pinch of salt.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is said to start at 1,299,000 won for a variant with 256GB of storage and go up to 1,398,000 won for 512GB, according to the most recent source.
While there may be a tiny price increase, if this leak is accurate, you will also receive more starting storage. Converted costs for the 256GB Z Flip 4 may be similar to what the 256GB model of the Z Flip 3 cost; however, there may not be a more affordable 128GB version this time. This might result in a beginning price this year of about $1,049, £999, or AU$1,599.
Analysis: a disappointing Flip
If Samsung is flipping up the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, that could hurt what’s currently the company’s most mainstream foldable phone line.
According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 had strong sales, which is undoubtedly at least in part due to its price, which was extremely reasonable by foldable phone standards. We had anticipated Samsung would hold the price at that level or decrease it even further in order to sustain or increase that momentum.
Of course, because this is only a leak at this point, the corporation may yet choose to do so. Additionally, it seems strange that Samsung would not provide a 128GB model this year, particularly if doing so would result in a higher beginning price.
So let’s hope for a less expensive base model than what we’ve heard about so far. Although it will never be inexpensive enough to rank among the best cheap phones, if the price is right, it might very well rank among the finest foldable phones.
